South western Victoria – a jewel in the crown
Lying south of the Great Dividing Range, south western Victoria has areas of scenic beauty, a dramatic coastline, superb national parks and rich biodiversity. There is an abundance of arable land, large surface and underground water storages and a broad agricultural production base.
The region of about 2.6 million hectares extends from Ballarat in the Central Highlands of Victoria, west to the South Australian border and south to the coast. The southern two thirds are characterised by flat volcanic plains while the Grampians, the Dundas Tablelands and the Black Ranges dominate the northern third. One of the world’s great deepwater ports is located in Portland.

Would you like to be a part of making a difference and join the many who work to protect our precious environment?

Maybe you have ideas that may contribute to progress and changes for the better for our unique Glenelg Hopkins biodiversity.
There are lots of ways to help make a difference. You can join a Landcare group and, as a volunteer, get your hands dirty planting trees and removing weeds.
If you are time poor, perhaps you would like to contribute to the work of others by making a one-off or regular donation.
Helping set the direction of natural resource management activities is also important. We regularly look for feedback on draft strategies and plans.
