Works in and around waterways must be conducted in ways that are environmentally sound.

Under the Water Act (1989) Glenelg Hopkins CMA must consider the following potential adverse effects of a permit application:

  • The drainage regime
  • In-stream uses of water
  • The flow of water within the waterway and on riparian land;
  • Water escaping from the works

 The CMA also assesses whether the proposed work site is within a heritage river area or natural catchment area.
